So, you have scored that major interview with your desired company or with a top notch client. What great news! However, you immediately panic because you are afraid you do not have the professional clothes needed to give you that expert look that will make a great impression at the meeting. Many would start to calculate how extraordinary the cost is going to be to purchase a high end suit or blouse for this one meeting. Don’t fear. Many of us actually have items in our own closet that will work for you.
You should first pull out any neutral color pieces you currently have in your closet. For example, see if you own a blazer, blouse, skirt, pants, or dress in the black, navy, gray, or white color palettes. You may be able to pull together a sharp ensemble for your important meeting from what you already own.
If after surveying your closet, you have no luck finding anything that will make you look your best, a great shopping option is an upscale thrift store. I have often been able to find labels such as Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, J. Crew, and others for under $5 at thrift stores and some items still have the tags on them. I’ve mentioned these labels because they have clothing that is very professional and they also focus on the neutral color palette that I mentioned above.
I’ve created two outfits from thrift store finds that would be perfect for a professional meeting or interview. The entire outfits cost under $20!
